"Just a little notice that I won't be needing to attend prenatal yoga anymore! I had my baby yesterday afternoon, our baby came exactly as I wanted, a vbac, totally natural, and at Mary Greeley. I owe you a HUGE thanks for all the breathing and relaxation techniques you showed me. They got me through that birth no problem. All the medical crew and my doula commented how relaxed and focused I was throughout! I really think our one-on-one session last week is what did it. I came out of that class ready to birth the baby, and that's what I did! Thank you!" prenatal yoga student.

Prenatal Support

In the Prenatal Yoga class, time is set aside for the sharing of what's joyful and what's difficult about being pregnant. Topics of importance to mothers-to-be are explored in a non- judgmental and caring atmosphere. Discussions are rich, genuine and informative. Many women find these supportive discussions to be invaluable for the information, shared resources and the sense of community and friendship they provide.

"Taking Ruthann's prenatal yoga class was one of the best things I did to prepare for labor. I learned not only breathing techniques and postures helpful to labor, but also an entire mindset conducive to remaining calm and present during the birth of my baby. I also loved the community of women I met in class, women who have since become good friends and a great support system after our babies were born. During labor, I remembered to breathe deeply, to stay in the moment and not fight what was happening, and to trust in my body and the birth process. These were mantras we repeated often in class and I was amazed at how ingrained those teachings became and how reassuring they felt during the actual birth and delivery. My beautiful baby girl was born healthy and strong and I was able to experience the kind of birth I had intended to have. I credit prenatal yoga for giving me much of the courage and strength I needed to embrace the process and face it with a welcoming spirit." Sandra L.
