 Betsy Baum, RN, BSN, LMT Betsy Baum, registered nurse
and certified massage therapist, provides massage at Ames Yoga Center. Betsy has 14 years experience as a
registered nurse working primarily with prenatal, postnatal, and pediatric
clients. She is a 2005 graduate of
Body Wisdom Massage Therapy School, Urbandale, IA and has been practicing
massage therapy since. Licensed by
the state of Iowa and certified by the National Certification Board for
Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, Betsy is also an active member of the
Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals. Betsy’s massage styles are using techniques geared towards the needs of the infant, pediatric, adult, and geriatric population. In addition to catering to clients of all ages, Betsy uses a massage table that converts to specifically accommodate the pregnant woman. Pregnancy massage targets muscles and ligaments that need attention during this time of bodily changes, combined with long flowing strokes for relaxation. Other massage techniques used are i) therapeutic massage for general relaxation, ii) myofascial therapy used for stretching the fascia and muscles with the goal of eliminating pain and increasing range of motion and iii) deep tissue massage for those suffering from strain or injury. Laura Biechler, LMT Laura received her massage therapy certification from Body Wisdom in Urbandale in 2008, and is both Iowa and nationally licensed, as well as a member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals. While attending Body Wisdom, she focused on Orthopedic/Sports massage and is passionate about learning new techniques to accommodate the needs of all her clients. She believes everyone can benefit from massage. Laura has chosen Massage Therapy because she finds working one-on–one with each client very fulfilling and rewarding. She is thrilled to be practicing massage at the Ames Yoga Center on Main Street, and is available for massages evenings and Saturdays.
